dark entries is proud to release �commerce�, the third ep from san francisco-based trio inhalt, german for �content�. the group was founded in 2009, and for the purposes of this recording are matia simovich, philip winiger and steven campodonico. inhalt�s core operative strategy is of sonic fidelity and integrity rather than nostalgia. their first release was a split 12- on world unknown in 2011 followed by two eps on dark entries, a remix ep on emotional especial and a part time punks session on cleopatra. �commerce� is a close examination of the self destructive tendency of the ego in relation to the allure of negativity and mass tragedy. the ep details the psychopathy of relentless thirst mandated by neo-liberalism and traverses through the adoption of social and economic technologies that strengthen domination vis a vis self enslavement to disempowerment. employing the best of both modern and vintage techniques, the four songs on the ep utilize dense production, big snares, and powerful german vocals from philip. inhalt are informed by the brooding soundtracks of john carpenter as much as the vastness and sheen of trevor horn, and set out to explore the borders between the vocal-driven pop song and the expansive dancefloor 12&#8243,,,, arrangement. the record was produced over four years at the bands own black sun loft recording studio and different fur studios. paul lavigne mastered the ep in london, england at kontrast mastering and george horn handled the vinyl eq curve at fantasy studios, berkeley. each ep is housed in a specially designed jacket by leo merz and includes a lyric sheet with english translations.

as spring casts its glow over the barren and fissured valley, the whiskered sciurine known as rvs can be seen emerging cautiously from its burrow opening, out into the crisp hillside breeze. revitalised from her slumber, she lets out an abrupt and shrill chirp that seems to declare all at once, -it s party time and boy do i have a corker for you-, one that reverberates across the landscape permeating every bush, branch, pasture and crag, where lifeforms large and small may otherwise be spotted scuttling in their daily forage. the other beasts awaken, and realise that it is time . with some dexterity and slight of paw, the rvs rodent produces a shiny black disc from the folds of her fur and flings it high into the heights of valley, exploding into a rainbow bursting with every emoticon known to the internet, thereupon thundering the sounds of asadinho s when we come to it across the streams and tree-lines. commencing with the silverlining remix, then the original, then the track titled koppaitch, each member of the wildlife community remains hypnotised with this incomparable detonation of sparkle, rhythm, and the poetics of the mighty maya angelou. as the display descends into the foliage and dissolves away, the rvs scriurine pauses to compose herself then retreats to her work cave to get working on the next of these black discs and the wildlife convention she calls the rvs weekender.

after only 3 short years, my second album o u r w a l l s is out. it comes clad in vinyl, polycarbonate, bits and bytes and i�m very happy and relieved to finally let go of this one. the cores of its 10/11 (cd/2lp) tracks were developed on a loop pedal at home. lyrics spun here and there. almost all of them are trying to extract levels of meaning from an everchanging knot of emotions. they take their time - ranging between t h r e e m i n u t e s f o u r t y to t h i r t e e n m i n u t e s f i f t y s e v e n - to clinically isolate, examine and name the elementary building blocks constituting the knot. o u r w a l l s is about the ups and downs of your everyday-mercilessly-hopeless love relationship, about staying mild when things get rough, fabulous metaphors, childish selfdefence mechanisms, the burning space in b e t w e e n words and o u r very personal w a l l s that have so far always kept us safe..
